50 Pushups, started with 50 and counted down... getting easier, but can't mentally get myself to start with 51...

Sorry - I have been out of the loop. I kind of slacked on the push-ups after about the 5th day on the road, so I think I haven't wanted to check in, because I felt guilty about not doing the push ups. Then, after my too long two trips, I have spent time in my bed, reading a book, doing laundry, and reorganizing my file cabinet (which yes, is relaxing for me) so... I have started back up on the push-ups today, and with corresponding. I even left the house for an hour to let the kids swim at Tiffany's down the street (where I could still be in my pjs) I think I overdosed on socialness, and am definitely in some kind of a weird recoil, hermit-ty type place :) it is nice though :)
yeah, tennis is still on, but the injury throbs once the blood starts pumping... but it is healing, and doesn't re-open itself or anything, so I'm not too worried. Megan's aunt and uncle, and my new cousin's (ages 12, 5, and 2) were here this past weekend, so no tennis. Lots of cardio though, involving walking for 12 hours with short 30 second bursts of rollercoasters in between (Seaworld and Six Flags)to work the adrenal glad and inner-ear gyro-scopic thing-a-ma-jig.
I convinced a 5 year old girl to go on a 100 ft tall log ride that reaches 49 miles per hour before splash down... THis was before I knew that she was only 5, but the ride is ok for people over 42", and she was 43"... :) she stuck to the little airplanes that go round and round and the smaller rides after that. BUT SHE DID LOVE IT, just didn't want to go for a second ride.
5 year old girl is Caitlin my cousin-in-law, not just random 5 y/o girl, btw...
Ahhhh, pushups.
I hate pushups.
All 105 of them this morning.
One thing I continue to be amazed by is my ability to get them done, every day. Every single day. I was on call the other night, having been on call every other night for more than week, sleeping less than 4 hours per night average and on this night less than 2 hours, and I got up, went to the hospital, took care of the people, and came home, and did my pushups.
I don't know where the strength comes from.
I stopped adding on at 100, intending to add situps until I was at 100/100. Instead, i do situps when I can or feel like it, and have resumed the "add one push-up per day" mindless program.
I generally get 25-35 done before arm fatigue makes face-tile interaction likely, so I stop for a minute, drink some water, start the coffee water boiling, pee, whatever.
Then do some more, and maybe some situps. And repeat, with progressively smaller groups getting done before the pain starts. Today was 35+30+20+20.
And I still made it to the hospital by 5:45. So - SARA - the pj's / social OD thing - not much sympathy. However, I'd rather get up at 5 a.m. than do laundry, and I'm pretty sure Jennifer has figured that out.
Yesterday I operated on a patient until my arms were hurting and my back was cramping. I had to have a nurse slip a gram of tylenol under my mask. I got home after 9 pm and just barely got to see Gibson as he went to bed. Fortunately he decided to stand up in his crib a little later and hasn't figured out how to lower himself, so I got to go "rescue" him, which is this daddy's happy moment, and so I got to see him twice.
I later drank two glasses of water and my headache went away. Even after two glasses of water, I still didn't have to pee. I think i might have been dehydrated. I've increased my coffee consumption to correct that.
Well, I guess that it is that God-like quality that you possess that makes it so that you can do push ups when those of us that are weaker sometimes just don't get them done. I wouldn't complain too much, because just as I chose to stay home and raise my children, and have to go to more birthday parties and family engagements than people who live across the country will ever have to go to, you chose your life, and I am sure that someone along the way must have told you that to be a surgeon you would give up other things in life such as potty breaks, and napping when you have a headache. You get to be a huge stud and save peoples lives, and I get to rescue my kids almost every time they need it. And, if along the way, I don't manage to do 100 push-ups a day, then I guess that is the way it goes.
Hmmmm... I'm not sure I get what Sara is saying here.
I think Alex is pretty studly for doing pushups and even more so for getting all of us to start. Oh, and saving lives.
I think we all think Sara's pretty studly for being a great mommy. And Jenni. And Ana. And maybe someday Megan, if that's what they want.
Seems like we're all in this together!

I never meant to offend you, Sara.
I wouldn't survive doing Jenni's job any more than any of you would survive doing mine. I'm just fortunate my adrenal glands keep pumping out the adrenaline, or it would all be over.

I have also been very tired and cranky lately, and I did not get the Wade gene that contains an endless supply of self confidence. I know that you do a great job at your important job, and it is great that you still have time to do anything else in your life at all, let alone have the energy to do pushups. I don't, and I may try to get back up to speed, but some days (like yesterday I spent the day putting two coats of paint on the ceiling, and other days I carry around a 35 lb kid) it just doesn't happen. I will let Justin represent for the Brunos as far as the ongoing push-up plan - as he has been doing them, at work, with some little push up bar thingys. (probably better if he ends up with the big guns anyways!)
Today marks a slight change in plans for me and the push-ups.
Yesterday was day 200.
Today, I've decided to start increasing the number I do in each set, by 1, every day. The problem was that doing 5 sets of 40 took too long. I'm going to do sets of 41, then 42, etc, keeping the total at 200, for now.
In ten days I'll be doing 4 sets of 50, then a couple weeks later, 3 sets of 67.
Hopefully I'll be able to shorten the total time each morning that the push-ups take. For a while I was getting up at 4! Yikes!

Okay, if Alex can do 200, maybe I better not quit afterall. Man I suck compared to 200. 25 today. Sheesh.
